When asked if I’d like a copy of Disney’s Mars Needs Moms to be honest I didn’t know what I was saying yes to. I haven’t seen this movie advertised and had no idea what it was about but the title suggested aliens, (well Martians to be exact) and so I hoped it would be a movie that J would enjoy.

What can I say……….. except WOW! What a great movie! J was glued to the screen the whole way through!!!

The movie has a great storyline but I don’t want to give too much away. Basically the movie follows Milo and his Mum, who has been abducted by Martians because as the title suggests Mars needs Moms. Along the way he meets some funny creatures and gets help from Gribble, who is believe it or not also human! There’s a really cute moment near the end between Mother and Son, it’s a moment that made me go awww but had J gasping, his eyes wide open and glued to the screen.

Overall this heartwarming story is a very funny movie enjoyed by myself and J. I think all primary school aged children would thoroughly enjoy it and with Christmas coming up it would make a great gift :)

More information about the movie can be found on the Disney page Mars Needs Moms

Thanks to Disney and the lovely people at Porter Novelli I have a copy of this great movie to giveaway.

When asked if I would be interested in reviewing a copy of the new Winnie The Pooh DVD I leapt at the chance, afterall who doesn’t love Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and friends.

Well, I’m sad to say J wasn’t looking forward to watching this quite as much as me. He has a gorgeous Winnie The Pooh storybook collection that I have been trying to get him re-interested for a while, J however insists that Winnie The Pooh is “for babies and little kids”………….. he’s 5! In my eyes he is a little kid so I persisted and when it came to the crunch he actually (kinda) enjoyed watching this.

When sad old Eeyore loses his tail, Owl sends the whole gang – Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga and Roo – on a wild journey to help Eeyore and save Christopher Robin from the mysterious backson. In the end, it turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some “hunny.”

The Blu Ray DVD contains the following BONUS FEATURES:
* Winnie The Pooh And His Story Too
* Deleted Scenes introduced by the Director
* Bonus Shorts
* Sing-Along With The Movie
* Disney Song Selection
* Creating The Perfect Winnie The Pooh Nursery

This is a great DVD, (as you would expect from Disney) and with a running time of approx 1 hour it’s ideal for entertaining little ones whilst you enjoy a little peace. It’s available in shops now and I’d recommend this DVD for all under 5′s and I could probably see alot of 5-6 year olds watching it too………………. (unless they feel that they’re too old for it, like J hehe). With Christmas just around the corner this would make a great gift, I’m thinking of sending a copy to my niece, at 4 I think she’d love it :)

Thanks to the lovely people at Disney and Porter Novelli I have a Blu-Ray DVD pack to giveaway to a lucky reader.

“I’m late, I’m late for a very important date!” ……… How many of you remember singing this over and over as a child, I know I do, in fact I can sometimes still be heard mumbling it to myself :)

I loved Alice In Wonderland as a child and I still love it know, in fact I love it so much that on a trip to Disneyworld I was one of very few adults queuing up to have my picture taken with Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee, Alice and of course the White Rabbit :) (Husband was little embarrassed)

Disney’s Alice in Wonderland has been restored to it full glory and released on Blu-Ray and DVD, 60th Anniversary Edition! I know it’s hard to believe that this wonderful movie was made 60 years ago!

It’s such a classic movie, full of fun, catchy tunes, imagination and for me lots of memories. I felt sure that J would also love it…………. Whilst he enjoyed watching the movie he also got quite confused with everything that happened in the movie and was very confused with “A very un-happy Birthday to you”, according to J “that’s a stupid song” :)

Overall he was very happy to watch the movie again so he obviously enjoyed it a little, his favourite characters were the Cheshire Cat, because “it had a big evil smile” and the Queen of Hearts, because “she was bossy and shouted lots”. :)

I loved watching it again, it brought back so many memories from my childhood. So how many memories have come flooding back to you looking at the pictures above?

The 60th Anniversary Blu Ray and DVD pack is out in shops now RRP $49.95 and contains lots of bonus features

Blu-ray Bonus Features:
Through the Keyhole: A Companion’s Guide to Wonderland.
Painting the Roses Red Interactive Game.
Disney View -Enhanced Viewing Experience.
Walt Disney Color TV Introduction (1959).
Reference Footage: Alice and the Doorknob.
Pencil Test: Alice Shrinks.
Reflections on Alice Featurette
Operation Wonderland (Now in Hi-Def!)
And much more!
DVD Bonus features:

Growing up Pinocchio was always one of my favourite movies and today it still remains one of my favourite Disney movies, despite the fact that it is now 70 years old!

Disney has opened it’s vaults once again and  Pinocchio has been released on Blu Ray and DVD for a limited time only……….. you only have until 30th June 2011!  I was lucky enough to get the chance to review this fab DVD……………. YAY!

Ok, so to be honest I was going to love this DVD no matter what, so what about J?  I bought J his first Pinocchio storybook last year and it quickly became one of his favourites, (along with Cars and Toy Story).  I wondered if he would love the DVD as much as his book, (he loves books and I had bought the shortened version).  Well as is the usual with J he loved the “baddies” and thought Pinocchio was great.  He was singing and dancing along to “I’ve Got No Strings” and absolutely loved Jiminy Cricket! So I guess Pinocchio gets the thumbs from J too :)

What I love about Disney Classic’s such as Pinocchio being released again is, they haven’t changed anything to make them modern and pc and so watching them takes you back to to the time that you first watched it :)

Remember be quick Pinocchio (along with Snow White) is only available to buy on DVD and Blu Ray until 30th June 2011 so go get it while you can.

I have a copy of Disney’s Pinocchio to giveaway to one lucky winner. To enter simply leave a comment below telling me what your favourite Disney Movie of all time and why

Giveaway closes 16th May 2011, winner will be chosen at random,           Australian residents only

Good Luck :)

When a copy of Tron Legacy became available to review I jumped at the chance. To be honest with you I wasn’t overly keen on the first Tron movie, it was one of those as a kid that I watched because my brother was watching it and we only had one TV. However I had heard that this film had stunning graphics and a great storyline, 2 things that usually make for good watching :)

“State-of-the-art technology brings this father-son story to life,as the rebellious 27 year old Sam Flynn (GARRETT HEDLUND) is haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his father, Kevin Flynn (Oscar® and Golden Globe® winner JEFF BRIDGES), who was once recognised as the world’s most innovative tech visionary. When Sam investigates a strange signal sent from the old Flynn’s Arcade – a signal that could only come from his father – he finds himself pulled into a digital Grid – A place of infinite possibility – and where Kevin has been trapped for the last 20 years. With the help of fearless warrior Quorra (OLIVIA WILDE), father and son embark on a life-or-death journey across a visually stunning digital landscape created by Kevin himself that has become far more advanced. Complete with never before imagined vehicles, weapons, landscapes and a ruthless villain who will stop at nothing to prevent their escape. TRON: Legacy even features a soundtrack spun by Grammy® Award-wining electronic music dup, Daft Punk.”

This movie did not disappoint, I thought the storyline was really good and the graphics in the film were just stunning, even my hubby watched Tron Legacy, which is amazing because he’s not usually a movie kind of guy. We were both very impressed with the vehicles, and who would have thought you could do so much damage with a frisbee ;-) So this movie gets a big thumbs up from the both of us, (much to my surprise).

Tron Legacy is available to buy in shops now and I would definitely recommend you give this movie a go, even if you’re not into science fiction, (like myself).                                                                      I have a copy of Tron Legacy to giveaway, to enter simply leave a comment below telling me why you would like to win this movie.

We received a copy of Tangled in the mail to review and to be honest I was little more excited than J when it arrived. I love pretty much all Disney films, (they have a certain quality to them), however J was convinced it was a girl’s movie!

I managed to convince him to give it a go and after just a few minutes he was hooked. He thought the “evil woman,” (Mother Gothel) was fab, (he always loves the “baddies”), but his favourite characters were Pascal, the little chameleon on Rapunzel’s shoulder and Maximus the horse.

Whilst he really enjoyed the movie, I think he still feels it’s abit girly………… however I’m sure it will be one that he’s asking to watch again soon. It’s definitely a movie that I would consider buying for my nieces, (I’m unsure as to whether any of my nephews would enjoy it quite as much). Personally I loved it, it made me laugh and I loved the modern day twist on an old fairytale, I thought Rapunzel’s “girl power” was fab! :)

Tangled will be on the shelves and available to own 11th May 2011 (DVD $29.95, Blu-Ray Pack $39.95, 3D Blu-Ray Pack $59.95)

I have a copy of Tangled to giveaway to one lucky person.  In order to win a copy of this fab movie simply leave a comment below.

J was very excited last week when we received our copies of Handy Manny Motorcycle adventure and also Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Minnie’s Masquerade.  He had originally wanted to go see both at the cinema but he has never been to the cinema before, (abit of a sensory overload) and decided at the last minute that he just couldn’t cope. So I’m sure you can imagine just how excited he was when they arrived in the post :)

“Feel the wind in your hair and join Manny as he packs up his tools for an exciting road trip. They’re heading out to a fiesta grande – Manny’s family reunion! But when Pat veers off in search of his own family Manny’s plans take a detour. Can he race to the rescue in time to make it to the party.”

Those of you that are familiar with the show will know that the series features a Hispanic handy man named Manny along with his tools. Spanish words are incorporated in the script to encourage learning, abit like Dora and Diego for those unfamiliar with Handy Manny. J has never really been a huge fan of either but he loves Manny and his tools and (like the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse) I like the lessons about friendship and working together that Handy Manny teaches. For any child these are important lessons to learn and for an ASD child they are especially hard……… so big thumbs up to Manny and his tools for the helping hand.

This is a great DVD that shows the importance of family and how family doesn’t have to be blood related, most of us know that in today’s world lots of us have “families” made up of friends, I know ours does :) This DVD is probably aimed at preschoolers but J is 5 and loved it………. I think most 5 and 6 year olds would also find Handy Manny entertaining and most parents will be singing along to the various songs on the DVD.

I have a copy of this fantastic DVD to giveaway to one lucky person. To win a copy just comment below telling me what your favourite family get together is………..(When I was a child Christmas was always my favourite) :D

Giveaway closes Wednesday 20th April  ………… Good Luck!

Last week I received a copy of Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 to review.

We hadn’t seen the first one so I was unsure of the storyline but since the movie contains talking dogs, (J most favourite animal in the whole wide world), I knew this movie would be a sure fire hit.

The story centres around newlyweds Papi and Chloe and their five adorable puppies. When their human owners are in trouble, it’s Chihuahua power to the rescue. Working as a family Papi and Chloe enter highly competitive Beverly Hills Dog Show in a bid to win the grand prize and save their family’s home. However in order to win they have to out-bark the reigning champion, a stuck-up Poodle named Appoline.  Without giving too much away they encounter a problem during the contest and so don’t win actually win, however the story does have a happy ending and they do save the day.

J and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie from start to finish and it really didn’t matter that we hadn’t seen the first movie as this had a storyline all of it’s own. It’s packed with funny moments, oh so cute moments and action and adventure moments. J’s favourite moments from the film were Papi’s stories of Chihuahua Warriors and has now retold the stories several times :) He didn’t really understand the storyline, people not being able to make mortgage payments and so facing the possibility of losing the house unless the dogs save the day………… but again that didn’t matter. To him it was a very funny movie with cute talking dogs and that was enough…………..although he did point out to me “dogs can’t really talk can they Mum!” :)

Overall I’d say this was a great family movie that’s definatly worth watching. It’s available in shops now and it’s one of those movies that the whole family can enjoy so I would recommend buying it. In fact J enjoyed it so much I’m going to get him the first movie too :)

I have a Blu-ray + DVD pack of the Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 worth $49.95 to giveaway!  This pack also contains an interactive trivia game for the family to enjoy as well as a litter of other bonus features.
