Today’s Photo A Day Challenge for November is Colour.
Autumn has always been my favourite season, despite the cold! And let’s face it, it has definitely gotten COLD!
The thing that makes me love Autumn so much is the colour, I love Autumn colours. Reds, Oranges, Yellows, Browns, Greens…………And that’s just the trees!
So I thought I’d share some Autumn colours……………..

I’m Being British And Talking About The Weather!

Since arriving back in the UK we’ve been a little spoilt with the weather that we’ve encountered.
To be honest after our last winter in the UK and hearing from family and friends how bad last winter was, we were expecting some cold days and although we’ve had a couple of cold ones the weather’s actually been quite bizarre! In fact one day this week the thermometer read 21.5 degrees and the sun was shining…………….I didn’t even need a coat! Or a jumper!! However a few weeks ago it was so cold the thermometer read -16!!! Yep that’s right -16!! That’s a huge difference!
When we left Australia we experienced a heatwave and it was 37 degrees the day we left………….hot, hot, hot! So -16 was a huge shock to the system.

I’m not posting to complain about the weather because despite feeling like our hands were going to freeze right off our arms when we went out, the cold weather provided some great photo opportunities and J got to experience snow, something that he couldn’t remember but loved!
……….And yes we made a huge snowman!
Today we woke up and it was pretty chilly, around 6 degrees but by 9am it was already warm enough to go out with just a small jacket on. As it was J’s day at home this week (no school on a Thursday for him this term) we decided to attempt a trip to the park. We haven’t been to the park for a while for several reasons but mostly because J usually either finds it too busy or too “dirty” and the result of most trips is usually a huge meltdown. Today the park was empty, YAY! We had a great play, with lots of giggling and even went back for another play later in the day. It had warmed up so much by then that the thermometer was reading 21.5 degrees!!! No jacket required!…….Crazy right? Just look at that blue sky!!!
Again I’m not complaining, I love the sunshine
I’m just confused, the weather forecast says that temperatures are going to drop at the weekend………..alot……….down to around 11 degrees around these parts of Great Britain! The weather here really has been crazy during the last few months. I’m glad that I packed our jumpers and fleeces when we left Australia but I’m so relieved that I packed t-shirts too, despite Hubby insisting that we wouldn’t need then.
Come on admit it the weather’s gone mad!…………… I wouldn’t be British if I didn’t do at least one post about the weather, now would I?

It’s Beginning To Look Alot Like Christmas………..

Yes it is…………………… and no it’s not!
Wow it’s December already, it’s crept up very quickly this year. Like last year it just feels different and I’m not sure how I feel about it.
J isn’t a huge fan of Christmas, he loves to decorate the tree and to open his (and sometimes ours) presents and cards but that’s about it. He’s absolutely petrified of Santa and has put a complete ban on Santa visiting. He’s told us Santa is not allowed in the house and can leave his present at the door…………outside! He’s having to do lots of Christmas art at school which he isn’t enjoying, art is something he’s never really been a fan of, especially messy art and because he has to do it at school, it’s no longer fun at all for him. He won’t join us with our Christmas lunch, although he will still sit with us whilst he eats his usual cheese sandwich that has been cut into triangles. So you see he’s not really a huge fan of the Christmas period.
There’s a huge difference in weather for us too. I know we celebrated last Christmas in Australia but we had so much rain and then of course the floods, for over a month now it’s been unbelievably hot and dry and well…………………. it just doesn’t feel like Christmas to me. I think it’s because I’m so used to having a cold and frosty run up to Christmas. Despite the rain last year I felt pretty much the same, I even sat and watched a huge collection of Christmas movies and cartoons with J. I did this for 2 reasons, the first was to try to get him more enthusiastic about Christmas and the other reason was to try to help me feel more Christmassy. Did it work? No not really, but he did enjoy the movies
We’ve had abit of a bad run of luck this year too and have some pretty huge changes coming up right at the start of 2012. Maybe thinking of and working our way up to and through the really huge things going on at the moment is also contributing to my lack of Christmas spirit. We’ve even decorated our tree early this year, which was great fun but still didn’t get us all in the seasonal mood.
I just can’t put my finger on it but at the moment I just don’t feel all that Chrismassy, which is really unusual for me. I’m usually a big fan of Christmas, growing up my Nan always made Christmas a very special time of the year for me, of course it’s also this time of the year that I miss her the most. I miss spending my special time with her, taking her Christmas shopping etc. When think about it I guess I’m also missing some of my family and friends back home, I suppose it’s just that time of year.
I know it’s still a couple of weeks ’til Christmas but by this time I’m usually full of Christmas joy, I hope we can all get a little more Christmassy over the next couple of weeks and make this Christmas extra special for all of us but especially for J.
Rays Of Light and Colour – A Gallery Post

When I saw the theme for this weeks Gallery was Colour I considered using several different pictures. I had pictures of animals, there’s so many fantastic and colourful animals in Australia. We’ve had some really colourful (and noisy) birds in our backyard, then there’s the bugs…….. and then the bigger animals…………… way too any pictures to choose from
So then I considered posting some of J’s artwork, ok it would have been yet another picture of Angry Birds, Smurfs or Mario that he would have drawn but it would have been colourful. In fact I had a couple of pictures all set and ready to go but then last night the sky did this……………………
What can I say, I’m a sucker for good sky picture. I love the colour that the rays of light made as the sun started to set.
46/365 – More Rain Due *sigh*

*Sigh* The weather forecast said more rain today………… and boy did it come down! It was so heavy, hope J was ok at school, he’s not keen on storms/heavy rain, (it sends him into overdrive most of the time). The garden started to flood again and after just half an hour of rain!
The rain stopped as quickly as it came though so hopefully it’ll start to dry up abit before the next downpour……………… sky looks like it’s set to burst so I’m thinking it’s going to rain a fair bit today…………….. still at least it seems to have cooled the air a little

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish the world a very Merry Christmas, hope everyone has a great day
We’ll get some ribbon, wrap some gifts Open our hearts and heal some rifts Children will giggle with excitement and glee As we take out the star to put upon the Christmas tree
You’ll crunch and much on candy canes Whilst peering outside through frosty window panes Unless ofcourse you live down under Where you’ll have sun or maybe thunder!
And Let’s all get fat on Christmas cake Forget the diet for goodness sake It doesn’t matter how hard you try You just can’t resist the last mince pie
In the sky I see the sleigh Santa’s left he’s on his way Ring the bells, hear them chime It’s finally here, it’s Christmas time!
