I was recently sent a copy of Mensa Academy on the 3DS to review. Ok so this might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I love puzzles, especially puzzles that can get this brain of mine ticking over, so I was pretty excited when it arrived.
As soon as it arrived I swiped borrowed J’s Nintendo 3DS and gave it a go. I was curious so after playing the mini games for just 5 minutes I had to have a go at the IQ test………………My score? 133………not too bad eh? Since then I have become a little addicted to the mini games in my bid to beat my IQ score, not that I’m competitive or anything. LOL
There are 3 modes available……Play, Test and Coach and 100+ mini games, puzzles and challenges to keep you busy. The instructions are clear and easy to understand, although J did have difficulty with some of the questions, however he is only 6.
Catergories covered include Language, Logic, Visual, Numeracy and Memory, all of which are challenging enough to keep you entertained for hours.
Overall I thought it was a fun and a little addictive game with an educational twist. My only complaint would be that occasionally the game will register a tap when you’ve actually meant to indicate a direction of movement. Other than that Fab!
